From Friday, March 28, to Saturday, March 29, 2025, the XII edition of «24 Hours for the Lord» is celebrated in dioceses throughout the world. This prayer event, desired by Pope Francis, takes place between the Friday and Saturday preceding the Fourth Sunday of Lent. This initiative aims to offer the faithful the opportunity to experience a moment of intense prayer and rediscover the path toward drawing closer to the Lord.
«You are my hope»
For this edition, within the 2025 Jubilee, which is particularly dedicated to hope, the motto chosen by the Holy Father is taken from the words of the Psalmist: «You are my hope» (Ps 71:5). These words echo the certainty present in the heart of every believer: «Christ Jesus, our hope» (1 Tim 1:1). The Lord’s love, which always wishes to embrace us and grant us the grace of his forgiveness, gives rise to hope in us as a gift of the Holy Spirit. Indeed, forgiveness is the summit of love, because it is a free gift that makes it possible to live a new life, “mercyfied,” as Pope Francis says.
What is proposed to the communities?
Specifically, communities are invited, on Friday evening and throughout Saturday, to arrange for the extraordinary opening of churches and shrines, offering the opportunity to go to Confession, preferably in the context of animated Eucharistic Adoration.
The purpose of the event is in fact to place the sacrament of Reconciliation at the center once again of the pastoral life of our communities. This is the central message of the Gospel: the Mercy of God, which assures us that we have a Father who welcomes, comforts, and renews us
Let us not miss this opportunity for spiritual growth and renewal; let us not underestimate these moments of grace. Easter is now near, so let us approach our encounter with the Risen One in the right spirit.
