This October, we are invited to rediscover the beauty and power of the Holy Rosary, an ancient and ever-new prayer. Every Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be raised to heaven ascends to God like a whisper that sometimes becomes a cry for help when we experience the powerlessness of the human condition. At times it becomes a cry of jubilation when we realize that there is a Mystery that precedes and envelops us, one that does not let us fall into the void but opens horizons of peace to us, despite all the nights we may pass through. Let us rediscover this powerful prayer that unites us in a single embrace and binds us to the Most Holy Mother, the only one who can untie those knots that keep us stuck at the starting blocks.
The month of October is also dedicated to the missions. Pope Francis reminds us that «on World Mission Sunday, celebrated every year on the penultimate Sunday of October [this year, October 24], we gratefully remember all the people who, through their witness of life, help us renew our baptismal commitment to be generous and joyful apostles of the Gospel. We especially remember those who have been able to set out, leave their homeland and family so that the Gospel may reach, without delay or fear, the corners of peoples and cities where so many lives thirst for blessing».
This month is also illuminated by the guardian angels, our heavenly friends, placed at our side to inspire us on paths of holiness. We also remember giants of holiness such as Thérèse of Lisieux, Saint Francis of Assisi, and Saint John Paul II, to name just a few. Enlightened by their example, let us live this month with hearts burning with love for God and our brothers and sisters!
