October is the month dedicated to the Holy Rosary and the missions.
The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated on October 7, and Our Lady of Fatima on October 13; during the apparitions, she urged the shepherd children to pray the Rosary incessantly.
World Mission Day is observed on October 18, preceded by the commemoration of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus, patroness of missions, on the first day of the month.
October 2 is the feast of the guardian angels, who accompany us every day and care for us in every circumstance, and whose important role is often emphasized by the Holy Father.
Another beloved saint is celebrated, the patron saint of Italy: Saint Francis of Assisi (October 4). Saint Gerard Majella (October 16), protector of mothers and children, Saint Jude Thaddeus (October 28), the saint of impossible causes, and Saint Faustina Kowalska (October 5), the “secretary of Divine Mercy,” are also celebrated. A special place is reserved for the commemoration of Saint John Paul II (October 23), the Holy Pope so loved by everyone, who left an indelible mark on the spirituality and history of the 20th century.
