In response to the growing tension and violence in the Middle East, the Catholic Church in Italy has decided to join in an act of solidarity and faith: a National Day of Fasting, Prayer and Abstinence for Peace and Reconciliation. This initiative was inspired by the guidance of Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, who urged local communities to pray together “to entrust to God the Father our thirst for peace, justice and reconciliation.”
A special moment for Peace
On October 17, in communion with the Christians of the Holy Land, this special day will be held. Promoted by the Presidency of the CEI, the initiative aims to unite diocesan communities in a moment of deep reflection and prayer, focusing on peace and reconciliation in a world marked by conflicts and divisions.
An invitation to collective prayer
To facilitate this collective prayer, a prayer outline has been prepared for all local communities wishing to participate. This is an opportunity to reflect on the need for peace, justice and reconciliation not only in the Holy Land, but throughout the world.
A step toward peace
This initiative represents an important step toward promoting peace and reconciliation at a time when the world urgently needs unity and prayer. The Catholic Church in Italy joins Christians around the world in calling for an end to violence and seeking peaceful solutions to conflicts.
