My “encounter” with the book “Make Your Life a Masterpiece”

Make Your Life a Masterpiece

The appeal of my profession

Even before becoming an editor, I always thought that editing was a wonderful job because it allows you to read a great deal and every book is, in its own way, an encounter. Encounters, as we know, leave their mark, and the same is true of books.
And don’t think that time or familiarity with a profession can break this “magic”: when you work on a book that somehow moves you, you have an encounter that nonetheless gives you something and leaves you a little different from how you were before.

The “encounter” with Make Your Life a Masterpiece

This happened to me while working on Father Lorenzo Galbiati’s text, Make Your Life a Masterpiece.
I liked it right from the start, from the title… And I’m one of those people who attach tremendous importance to titles!
Then it moved me because the Author takes us through all the World Youth Days, carrying us on an ideal journey, presenting passages by Saint John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis and commenting on them so that young people especially can find useful guidance for doing what the Lord invites everyone to do: making their lives a masterpiece, as Saint John Paul II said.
Page after page, I, who at 20 attended World Youth Day in Loreto and then the one in Rome as well, relived in an instant the sensations and emotions I had experienced: the Pope arriving, his words, the nighttime vigil, the faces of the friends who were with me… Everything came vividly back to life!
That is the power of books, of beautiful books!

A book for every age and every season

It is a book intended for young people, but also for those who help young people along the difficult journey of growing up; it is a book that speaks to everyone and truly has the power to fascinate.
It is an ideal book for summer, because it is a book that is “refreshing inside,” helping the soul “get back in line” with itself, rediscover itself, and listen to itself again.
I read it sitting at my desk, but I may well take it with me on vacation and perhaps read it under the beach umbrella or from a beautiful mountain refuge: every place is suitable for looking up at the sky, and this is the invitation underlying every page of this book.

Have a wonderful summer and happy reading!
