The Augustinian nuns of Urbino, called to pray for everyone and each person, wrote a Chaplet for Life based on their ongoing experience of engaging with the people who knock at their door, laden with desires, requests, needs...
We ask them how this project came about.
How did the Chaplet for Life come about?
The Chaplet for Life springs from the Blood of Christ. The Most Precious Blood is the warp that structures it, while the weft that completes the weaving is our desire to harmonize ourselves with all creation, clothing ourselves in human and Christian dignity. Being collaborators and guardians of every form of existence, especially the weakest and most defenseless, expands our prayer into a breath that embraces every sphere of life: from the embryo to the terminally ill, from respect and social honesty to the safeguarding of nature, from encountering Christ to sacramental life.
Why pray for life?
Praying for life is a deep need of the heart, which we can all perceive if we do not allow ourselves to be misled by numbing and destructive ideologies. Proof of this are the many requests for intercession that reach our monastery from couples longing to become fathers and mothers.
How do you respond to the requests you receive?
We strive to make the desires of those who come to our door our own, never tiring of knocking, even insistently, at the door of that God who is love. From heaven, our dearest Mother Angela Tamanti - to whom we dedicate an appendix to the booklet - is our powerful collaborator.
What does the Chaplet for Life propose?
Since 2018, our monastic community has dedicated the Fridays of July to prayer for life, as July is the month of the Most Precious Blood. Moreover, it is precisely on Fridays that many hospitals perform abortions.
We therefore offer four commentaries on the Chaplet - which is explained clearly in the booklet - to encourage a prayer journey in which the blood is viewed from different perspectives: science; Jewish roots; Christianity; spirituality. They can be prayed communally during Eucharistic Adoration or individually at any time of the year.
Does the booklet also contain digital content to download?
Yes! We were determined to create them so that everyone could always have the Chaplet for Life with them.
As you can see, on this page you will find five links. By clicking on them, you can view how to pray the Chaplet for Life and each individual week. This content can be conveniently downloaded to whichever device you prefer.
The same can be done with the booklet, which contains QR codes for downloading the complete Chaplet for Life and each individual week.
Who do you dedicate the Chaplet for Life to?
We dedicate the Chaplet for Life to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of joy and of all life, so that she may present our prayers to God, the Father who loves us so much. May He bless us all.
