Art and Culture in the 2025 Jubilee: A Journey of Beauty and Spirituality
The 2025 Jubilee is not only a period of prayer and reconciliation, but also an opportunity to rediscover how art and culture can bring us closer to God.
The Church, guardian and promoter of beauty, recognizes artistic expression as a universal language capable of speaking to the heart, inspiring, and leading to a deeper understanding of faith.
The Jubilee of Artists, to be held in Rome from February 15 to 18, 2025, is a special opportunity to reflect on the connection between creativity and spirituality. Inspired by the ability of the arts and culture to “dream up new versions of the world,” this event invites us to recognize that every authentic work of art carries a reflection of the divine.
A profound dialogue between art and spirituality
Art has always played a fundamental role in faith. We think of frescoed churches, paintings that tell biblical stories, sculptures depicting the saints, and melodies that uplift the spirit. Art is a privileged vehicle for conveying Christian values and prompting profound questions about life and eternity. Literature also plays a crucial role in this dialogue, allowing us to explore history, the experiences of the saints, and the messages of Scripture.
As part of the Jubilee, various artistic initiatives have been planned to underscore the importance of art as a tool for hope and social change:
• The Doors of Hope: this project involves Italian and international prisons, with art installations created by world-renowned artists. Its goal is twofold: to offer inmates tools for expression and to raise society’s awareness of the rehabilitative role of prisons. A participatory work, “I Contain Multitudes,” was created inside Rome’s Rebibbia prison.
• Conciliazione 5: A new exhibition space in the heart of Rome, open 24 hours a day, will be a permanent window onto contemporary art in dialogue with the Jubilee. The program will focus on commissioning contemporary art projects from international artists, centered on the theme of Hope. This space is scheduled to open today, February 15, 2025.
Art as a Tool for Evangelization
Art, in all its forms, is a powerful tool for evangelization. Through paintings, sculptures, melodies, and books, it is possible to convey the Christian message in a universal way, touching everyone’s heart. The 2025 Jubilee offers a privileged way to encounter God through art and culture.

The publications offered are valuable resources for those wishing to explore these topics in greater depth. In particular, A Month with Mary features illustrations and paintings of the Madonna, offering a perfect combination of the beauty of its content and aesthetic beauty.
