Mara Sattei and faith

Mara Sattei

At the latest Sanremo Festival, we were able to hear Duemila minuti, sung by Mara Sattei for the first time on the prestigious Ariston stage.
An intense song that tells the story of a toxic relationship which, instead of destroying her, becomes a stimulus to rediscover her lost freedom and the beauty of “breathing” without fear.

A sunset brings her face to face with God’s love

In recent days, the singer “surprised” the public by revealing more of herself and sharing a part of her life that is both deeply important and intimate: her faith and her relationship with God.
In a recent episode of Le Iene, she delivered a monologue in which she revealed that she believes in God and finds strength, courage, and meaning in Him.
Her relationship with God began when she was still very young: «I was about 8 years old, I was at the seaside, and sunset was approaching. My friends were playing on the beach, and when I looked up, I realized how immense the sky was and how small I actually was. At that moment I felt less alone: it was as if I had understood that someone was there listening to me, even though everything seemed so unreachable».

God’s love never ends and never grows tired

This encounter, this discovery, grows and strengthens over the years and becomes an integral part of her life. And music becomes a means of connecting ever more deeply with God, with that Beyond that inhabits every moment: «Music has always connected me to something beyond what I can understand. Whoever sings prays twice, and believing in God has given me the strength to fight, not to be afraid. It has made me feel loved, and never forgotten; a love that never ends and never grows tired. Believing has made me understand who I am, and has given my life priorities that go beyond material things. We are always chasing something that does not satisfy us, and so we try to buy it. But this does not make up for that emptiness».

To pray is to say: «Thank you!»

The faith Mara Sattei shares is a simple faith, capable of gratitude, because when you discover that you are loved, that you are never alone, that you can trust, that everything is given as a gift, and that nothing you have should be taken for granted, then a song of praise and thanksgiving rises freely from the heart: «Sometimes all it takes is to stop and be grateful for what you have, in the simplicity of small things.

Cooking for someone I love, calling my grandmother between interviews, or asking my mother and father, “How are you?” Music reminds me of all this every day. When I write and when I sing, there is something that comes from within and makes me feel free, alive, loved. Music has enabled me to dream, and has made me understand how beautiful it is to feel vulnerable and human. So, Whoever sings prays twice, and my prayer is simply to say thank you for all of this».

With Easter just around the corner, we too turn our gaze toward the sky and “lose ourselves” in the embrace of love that the Father has always desired to give us!
