We often find ourselves living in the rush of the many “things to do” without even realizing that we live moment by moment within an infinite gift that continually reminds us of God's love: time is an opportunity offered to us day after day; it is the Lord's invitation to live life to the fullest.
At the beginning of September, as many people return to work and their daily commitments, let us pause to reflect on the value of the time from which our days are woven.
Kahlil Gibran writes: “They consider me crazy because I do not want to sell my days in exchange for gold. And I judge them crazy because they think my days have a price.”
And yes, days are priceless because they are the finest gift the Lord offers us, as Pope Francis reminds us: “Our life is made up of time. And time is a gift from God. Therefore, we must devote it to good and fruitful actions.”
We could make a resolution in our hearts for this final part of 2021 and for the year ahead: to live, savoring every moment as a gift from God. It is precisely with a view to valuing time and life that Shalom's 2022 agendas and calendars have been created: many options suited to the most diverse needs, but all united by one idea: to live time as a gift so that we can say, at every moment, “there is no time other than this wonderful instant” (Alda Merini).
