Lent: a time to savor

March 9

Second reflection of the First Week of Lent

During the first week of Lent, we allow ourselves to be challenged by the meditations of Fr. Bruno Tarantino. Reflections that… cannot leave us indifferent:

JUDAS

«Let us put ourselves in Judas’s shoes for a moment. Disappointment? Anger? Envy? Jealousy? Greed? We do not know what drove Judas to form the intention of handing Jesus over to the Sanhedrin. Certainly, this decision was not the result of a whim; it must have been a long time in the making, developing over time. Each day, another piece must have been added to the puzzle of the decision until the measure was full. Is it possible that during this period Judas did not think of confiding his intention to one of the Twelve?
After all, in practice, they had been living together for at least three years; they had seen the same miracles, heard the same speeches, prayed together, suffered together, and searched together.

Is it possible that he now cannot find the reasons to entrust himself to someone?
He found no one capable or willing to accompany him in the difficult art of discerning the movements within him; no one made him aware of the multitude of voices echoing in his heart.

Did he not find anyone, or did he not look for anyone?
We are not given the answer. What is certain is that there was no one around him…».

When I have to make an important decision, do I discuss it with someone I respect, or do I rely solely on myself?

I’ll be waiting for you tomorrow morning so we can continue reflecting together!
