Fourth reflection of the second week of Lent
In the second week of Lent, we allow ourselves to be challenged by the meditations of Father Lorenzo Baldella. Reflections that… cannot leave us indifferent:
«“Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus replied: “My kingdom is not of this world” (Jn 18:33).
Jesus therefore presents himself to us as king, as truth, as life. We have already chosen to be part of his kingdom. Yet we need to ask ourselves whether our choices have substance or are instead weak and fragmented.
Choosing to dwell in Jesus’ kingdom is an all-encompassing choice. We cannot cut back on his teaching, which today is often found, among many Christians around us, mixed with errors, uncertainties, and prejudices; nor can we cut back on evangelical ideals, reducing them, as often happens, to what we like or what is convenient for us. In faith, Christians embrace Jesus’ message, their teacher and their Lord, in its entirety and, in faith, allow themselves to be carried and guided by Jesus, giving themselves completely to him. Finally, choosing to remain in Jesus’ kingdom commits our whole person through an irrevocable decision. Luke says: “No one who puts a hand to the plow and then turns back is fit for the kingdom of God” (Lk 9:62). Our choices form a journey, an ideal! We never grow tired of walking, because he made a journey toward us, even going so far as to endure mockery for our sake.”
Do I truly live with the awareness that Jesus is the king of my life?
I’ll be waiting for you tomorrow morning to continue reflecting together!
