A life of devotion
James entered the Order of Friars Minor in 1416, dedicating his life to preaching and reforming the Church. He traveled tirelessly throughout Italy and Europe, proclaiming the message of the Gospel and combating heresy. His eloquence and religious fervor attracted thousands of people to his sermons, and his reputation for holiness spread rapidly.

The protector of children
Saint James is particularly venerated as the protector of children. His compassion and love for the youngest are evident in many of his actions and miracles. It is said that he saved numerous children from dangerous situations and healed many of them from serious illnesses. His intercession is still invoked today by parents seeking protection and blessings for their children. There are many testimonies from mothers who were unable to have children and had them through the Saint's intercession.
The most famous miracle involving a child is the one he performed in Brescia when he brought a dead child back to life. During Saint James's preaching, a child named Corrado always went to listen to him, and Saint James had grown fond of him and taught him the Hail Mary. Corrado, in turn, taught the prayer to one of his playmates. However, the boy's father did not believe in Christ or the Madonna, and when he heard his son reciting the Hail Mary, in a fit of violence he struck Corrado and killed him. Out of fear, he hid the body by bricking it up inside the chimney of his house. After three days without finding his son, Corrado's father went to ask Saint James for help. The Saint urged the man to forgive and then went to the murderer's house with two other friars. He indicated that they should tear down the wall at one point, and while they were hammering, they heard a voice from inside saying: Β«Careful, you're hurting me!Β». It was Corrado, alive.
