Faith is sown through life

Faith is not passed on through speeches, but through daily witness. Children observe their parents: they see how they face difficulties, how they experience joy, and how they relate to others. If faith is lived with consistency, serenity, and gratitude, it becomes a seed that can germinate in the hearts of children, even at times different from those we expect.

Saint Monica and Saint Augustine

Saint Monica: mother, intercessor, witness

Saint Monica is a powerful example of maternal love and unwavering faith. For years she prayed for the conversion of her son Augustine, who had abandoned the faith and sought the truth elsewhere. Monica never stopped hoping or loving. Her tears, silent prayers, and trust in God accompanied Augustine until the moment he opened his heart to grace.
Her story teaches us that faith is not an immediate achievement, but a gift that can mature over time, including through crises and rebellion. Monica did not force Augustine, but walked with him spiritually, entrusting him to God day after day.

The role of the father and the image of God

The father figure has a profound impact on how children will perceive God as Father. If the father is present, loving, just, and able to listen, it will be easier for children to embrace the idea of a God who loves unconditionally. For this reason, it is important that both parents work together in spiritual education, even if one of them is less practicing: cooperation, mutual respect, and unity are already a testimony of faith.

Educating children in faith in a culture that challenges it

We live in a society that often ridicules faith, considers it outdated, or confuses it with fanaticism. For this reason, educating children in spirituality requires discernment and dialogue. It is not about defending dogmas, but about showing the beauty of a life lived with God: a fuller, freer life, more capable of loving.
Children must be able to ask questions, express doubts, and seek answers. And parents must be ready to listen, share, and walk together. Faith is not a cage, but an open door to infinity.

Freedom, trust, and perseverance

Freedom is fundamental: children must be able to choose. But freedom does not mean abandonment. It means trusting in the path that God has envisioned for each person, even if it differs from what we had imagined.
Like Saint Monica, we are called to persevere in prayer, not to lose hope, and to believe that every heart can be touched by grace. And even if we do not see the fruits immediately, we can be certain that every act of love, every kind word, and every silent prayer is a seed that God will know how to make grow.
