Admirabile signum. Apostolic letter of the Holy Father Francis on the meaning and importance of the nativity scene

Pope Francis invites us to contemplate the nativity scene with “wonder and amazement,” the feelings we experience when we see the various representations of the birth of Jesus. In his Apostolic Letter, the Pontiff guides us in discovering the meaning and value of each element of the nativity scene: from the star to the mountains, from the houses to the shepherds, and from the figures of the Holy Family to those of the Magi; he explains how each symbol enables us to enter into the mystery of the Incarnation, the marvelous story of God’s love for us.Finally, Pope Francis also points out the other figurines that do not belong to the Gospel narrative but express the human reality that Jesus came to save.
