Antiquum Ministerium. Apostolic Letter issued Motu Proprio establishing the ministry of catechist

With the apostolic letter Antiquum Ministerium, Pope Francis establishes the ministry of Catechist. This document marks an important step on the journey toward an increasingly missionary Church, in which the lay faithful are called to play a fundamental role in proclaiming the Gospel. The Holy Father recommends that men and women of deep faith and human maturity be called to the ministry of Catechist—people who actively participate in the life of the Christian community and are living examples of welcome, generosity, and fraternal communion.
