The Saints of the Missal. Giuseppe Moscati. The Life of the Holy Doctor, Missionary of Christ

This book offers a biographical profile of Saint Giuseppe Moscati, reconstructed with passion and engagingly by the skilled pen of Valerio Lessi. Moscati was a respected doctor in Naples, who worked in a hospital, saw patients in his own clinic, taught at a university... but in doing all this he was a missionary “in the deepest and most challenging sense for us: by practicing medicine, he had been a missionary of Christ. Note well: he had not “also been” a missionary of Christ. No, he had simply been a “missionary exercising the medical profession” (from the Introduction). This is precisely why his life continues to speak to us today, because Moscati teaches us that the path to holiness passes through the ordinary: we are all called to be saints wherever we find ourselves, simply by doing our ordinary work in an extraordinary way.
