The saints of the Missalino. John Henry Newman

The story of John Henry Newman, a complex and reserved figure whose life was an unceasing battle for the truth. A respected Anglican pastor, he embarked on a wrenching spiritual and intellectual journey, finally reaching the “harbor” of Catholicism. Newman offers us a lesson of extraordinary urgency for contemporary society: we must not be afraid of the truth, but have the courage to profess it. His journey of conversion, which took place in 1845, was intense and tormented. His profound humanity and tireless quest are beautifully summed up in the prayer “Lead, Kindly Light.” Newman, a saint and Doctor of the Church, is an example of “everyday holiness” and unwavering loyalty. This is an essential work for understanding a giant of faith and thought.
