Envy: Deadly Poison

Envy, among the poisons of the soul, has a distinctive feature: it intoxicates both those who feel it and those who are its object. To envy is to deny one’s own worth by projecting onto others chronic insecurity, a lack of self-esteem and, ultimately, the inability to correctly understand what we are experiencing. A profound, illuminating journey into the unfathomable depths of the human soul, supported by Scripture and concrete pastoral experience in the field. “Envy destroys because it cannot tolerate another person having something I do not have. The envious person always suffers because their heart desires the death of others, and so they suffer.” Pope Francis Authors: Fra Emiliano Antenucci and Father Aldo Buonaiuto Effatà Editrice
