Descrizione
The favorite liqueur of visitors to Camaldoli is made by infusing twelve herbs, including bay leaf, whose distinctive aroma complements the robust 48% alcohol content. Liqueur produced and bottled by the General House of the Congregation of Camaldolese Hermits in Tuscany. Traditionally made according to the recipe of the Antica Farmacia, using natural ingredients, and subject to slight variations with each preparation. Ingredients: hydroalcoholic extract of citrus limonum, salvia sclarea, ocimum basilicum, junipens communis, laurus nobilis, mentha piperita, chamomilla recutita, lippia cetriodora, cinnamonum, eugenia caryophyllata, thea, rosmarinus officinalis, sugar. Contains no coloring agents. Historical notes: The ancient pharmacy is located inside the Camaldolese monastery, a monastic order founded by Saint Romuald in the 11th century. This pharmacy is known for its long history and its use of herbs and natural remedies, in keeping with the monastic tradition of care and assistance. The Camaldolese monks, devoted to contemplative life and spiritual inquiry, also played an important role in medicine and botany. Their pharmacy was often stocked with a wide range of medicinal herbs, preparations, and ointments, used both for the well-being of the monks themselves and to assist the surrounding community.
