Mary and the Paschal Mystery in the 'ncrinata (or affrontata). An event of popular piety

The volume by Prof. Michele Munno addresses an ancient yet ever-relevant question: Did the Risen One meet his Mother? And when? Since neither the Gospels nor the rest of the New Testament make any mention of such an episode, from ancient times the apocryphal gospels and, later, some Church Fathers have held that the Risen One’s first appearance was to his Mother. Through a study of the ancient popular rite of the ‘Ncrinata (or Affrontata), the author offers a balanced interpretation that values popular piety without yielding either to uncritical acceptance or radical rejection.
