Foundations of faith and Christian life. Compendium of sermons

Pillars of Faith and Christian Life is a collection of homilies drawn from the Ascetical Works of Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori, originally entitled Abridged Sermons. The editor, Father Gilberto Silvestri, who presents the work in contemporary language, has divided the homilies into four broad themes: love, salvation, Christian morality, and the last things, so that the work can readily serve for spiritual reflection. The sermons are the Saint's preaching outlines, the fruit of his study and his work as a popular missionary. Saint Alphonsus, in fact, always devoted himself to preaching the Word of God in a simple and direct style. This remains a highly relevant work, capable of speaking to people today, immersed in a world often distant from God and forgetful of eternal realities.
