Sacrament of Anointing and pastoral care of the sick. Abridged edition

The Rite of Anointing of the Sick, or “Sacrament of Anointing and Pastoral Care of the Sick” (Latin: Ordinis Unctionis Infirmorum Eorumque Pastoralis Curæ, abbreviated: OUI), is a text of the Roman Ritual for the celebration of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick in the Catholic Church. Revised in accordance with the decrees of the Second Vatican Council, it was approved by Pope Paul VI, who authorized its promulgation by decree of the Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship on May 10, 1974. In ancient times it was called the “Sacrament of Extreme Unction.”
