Saint Philomena. A powerful saint with a mysterious history

The story of Saint Philomena, virgin and martyr, is a wonderful, extraordinary story, and perhaps the most mysterious, fascinating, strange, and intriguing case of hagiography in the history of the Church. Her very existence, in fact, remained completely unknown for 1,700 years. The mystery began to clear up on May 25, 1802, when archaeologists discovered a tomb in the Catacombs of Priscilla in Rome. This marked the beginning of the surprising story of the “Little Saint,” now known and invoked everywhere, whose images and accounts of miracles obtained through her intercession fill churches throughout the world. The second part of the book contains: two novenas, a little chaplet, two outlines for litanies, prayers to the Saint, and all the feast days honoring her in Mugnano del Cardinale (AV), where her body is kept.
