Spes non confundit. Bull of Indiction for the Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025

According to tradition, each Jubilee is proclaimed through the publication of a Papal Bull of Indiction. Pope Francis’s text, written in his usual simple and down-to-earth style, explains the theme of the Jubilee and focuses on Hope, reflecting on what this concept really means, often overlooked in the modern world accustomed to having “everything immediately.” It also addresses important issues such as declining birth rates and the condemnation of wars. The Pope also discusses specific topics related to the Jubilee, such as pilgrimage, the meaning and value of indulgences, confession, and welcoming the most vulnerable (the sick, elderly, children, prisoners, migrants?), as well as the beginning and end of the Holy Year and the opening of the Holy Door and the other three papal basilicas in Rome.
