Alexandrina de Balazar statue in marble powder. Height 20 cm

This delicate statue of Blessed Alexandrina de Balasar depicts the young Portuguese woman in an attitude of prayer and complete surrender to Christ. Great care has been taken with the details: her serene face, hands clasped over her chest, and simple clothing evoke her humble life, offered to the Lord. The base bears her name, making the statue ideal for home altars, places of prayer, parishes, and collectors of religious articles.

Alexandrina Maria da Costa (1904–1955), known as Alexandrina de Balasar, is one of Portugal’s most beloved mystics. After a serious accident in her youth, she became completely paralyzed and spent around 30 years confined to bed, offering every suffering for the conversion of sinners and out of love for the Heart of Jesus.

She was blessed with ecstasies, mystical phenomena, and visions, and for the last 13 years of her life she consumed only the Eucharist, an extraordinary testament to her complete union with Christ. John Paul II proclaimed her Blessed in 2004, recognizing her luminous example of faith, obedience, and sacrifice.
