It was July 13, 1917, when Our Lady revealed a secret divided into three parts to the little shepherds of Fatima: in 1942, the first two parts were made known. For the last one, however, it was necessary to wait until 2000, when it was disclosed by decision of Pope Wojtyla. Let us find out more.

What is the content of the secret?
The first part of the secret is a terrifying vision of Hell, “... a great sea of fire”. Sister Lucia, one of the visionaries of Fatima, says that it lasted only briefly, otherwise they would have died of fright. The second part foretells the Second World War, “a war worse than the one that is about to end”, and also refers to the problems caused to the world by Russia and communist atheism.
The consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Our Lady asks for the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart to prevent its errors from spreading throughout the world through further wars and persecutions in which “the good will be martyred, the Holy Father will suffer much, and various nations will be destroyed”. But it also speaks of a time when the Immaculate Heart will triumph and there will be peace in the world. Various Popes have consecrated the entire world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, beginning with Pius XII, Paul VI, and John Paul II. On October 13, 2013, for the first time during his pontificate, Pope Francis consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and on March 25, 2022, he consecrated Russia and Ukraine.

The third part of the secret
The third part of the secret of Fatima also foretells the death of a Pope. It speaks, in fact, of a “bishop dressed in white”, and John Paul II recognized in the Virgin's message the prophecy of the assassination attempt he suffered on May 13, 1981. But, in addition to a “bishop dressed in white”, it speaks of soldiers and the deaths of bishops, priests, religious men, religious women, and various lay people: we can think of the persecutions and martyrs of the third millennium.
At the beginning of the third part, an angel “with a flaming sword in his left hand, it flashed and emitted flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendor that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: the Angel, pointing to the earth with his right hand, cried out in a loud voice: Penance, Penance, Penance!”. At the end, “two Angels, each with a watering can, gathered up the blood of the martyrs and sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God with it”.

Let us take to heart Fatima's call to conversion, opening our hearts to Jesus and the Heavenly Mother so that we may embark on a path of love.
