Eucharistic miracles: a real “bomb” for our weak faith

Eucharistic miracles

Faith is a gift we receive in Baptism, yet sometimes we too, perhaps with a certain arrogance, say: “My faith does not need miracles!” or, somewhat like Saint Thomas, think: “If I do not see, I do not believe!”
And Eucharistic miracles are a real “bombshell”: they lead us to faith through the evidence of facts. Seeing is believing! Believing leads to conversion!

What are Eucharistic miracles

Indeed, faith is simple, within everyone's reach, and essentially consists in this: “believing,” trusting in God, knowing that he loves us immensely.
But faith also needs two things: humility and an open heart, always ready to listen to God's voice and able to see his signs and miracles in the world.
Miracles, as extraordinary, scientifically inexplicable events, are signs of God's presence in history; they are acts through which God speaks to us, by which he wants to confirm and strengthen our faith in him and in his extraordinary presence in the Eucharist.
This is why, from time to time, he gives us Eucharistic signs-miracles in different parts of the world: from Lanciano to Buenos Aires, from Bolsena to Santarem, from Siena to Monserrat…
Eucharistic miracles make visible that in the Eucharist, the bread and wine are transformed into the body and blood of Jesus, and he draws near to us in a new way to give us salvation. They therefore help us to believe, as Jesus himself suggests when he says: “If you do not want to believe me, believe at least the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father” (Jn 10:38).
And so let us say joyfully: «Thank you for the sign you have given us through the Eucharistic miracles: we believe, but increase our faith!»

What do Eucharistic miracles want to tell us?

A beautiful explanation is the one given by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone: «Through Eucharistic miracles, God wants to remind us of the center of salvation: the transformation of the world through God's love by means of Jesus' sacrifice. And through Eucharistic miracles, God also confirms - we might say - his own style: that of Jesus, of the Incarnation, a humble style that turns preferably to the little ones, without fanfare and in concealment, even though those who recognize him then make praise resound, like the shepherds of Bethlehem».
Certainly, these miracles are not given to provoke passing sensations, but if we accept them as true signs from God, they inspire us to greater love for the Eucharist and a greater awareness of the great mystery that God has placed in our hands.
For this reason, during the month of June we will publish a series of articles on our blog introducing us to some of the most famous Eucharistic miracles that have occurred in Italy and around the world, to awaken in us faith and love for Jesus in the Eucharist.

All that remains is to wish everyone an enjoyable read!
