Have you ever wondered why so many people are drawn to the Sacred Heart of Jesus? It is not merely an ancient devotion, but a source of hope and promises that can transform your life. Jesus, through his revelations to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, left us a true “code of love and mercy”: twelve promises that invite us to enter his merciful heart.
In the Twelve Promises, a divine embrace
These promises are not merely words, but true gifts that Jesus offers us. They are like a divine embrace that accompanies us on our journey through life.
Saint Margaret recorded them in her letters:
1. “I will give them (those devoted to my heart) all the graces necessary for their state in life” (letter 141).
2. “I will bring help to families in difficulty and will bring peace to divided families” (letters 35 and 131).
3. “I will comfort them in their afflictions” (letter 141).
4. “I will be their secure refuge in life and especially at the hour of death” (letter 141).
5. “I will pour abundant blessings upon all their undertakings” (letter 141).
6. “Sinners will find in my heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy” (letter 131).
7. “I will restore religious communities and individual faithful to their original fervor” (letters 141 and 132).
8. “Fervent souls will quickly attain great perfection” (letter 35).
9. “I will bless the places where the image of my Sacred Heart is exposed and honored” (letter 35).
10. “To all those who work for the salvation of souls, I will give the gift of touching the most hardened hearts” (letter 141).
11. “The names of those who promote devotion to my Sacred Heart will be written in my heart and will never be erased from it” (letters 39,4 and 89).
12. “I promise you, in the excessive mercy of my heart, that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Communion on the first Friday of the month for nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance. They will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments, and my heart will be their safe refuge in that final hour.”
Every promise says that Jesus loves us
Reading these promises warms the heart because in each one Jesus is telling us: “I love you!”
The promises of the Sacred Heart are a response to our fragility, but also an act of infinite mercy. Every promise confirms God’s unconditional love for every man and woman. No one is indifferent to him; each of us is his precious and beloved child.
In the promises, the Sacred Heart of Jesus gives us grace and strength, peace and unity, comfort and refuge, blessing and prosperity, forgiveness and mercy, renewal and fervor, love and protection.
The “Great Promise” is a path to salvation
Among all these promises, the “Great Promise” stands out as an extraordinary gift: the grace of final repentance: those who receive Communion on nine consecutive first Fridays will die in God’s grace and receive the Sacraments. For those who wish to understand this extraordinary practice better and live it fully, we recommend the book “The Nine First Fridays of the Month”, published and sold in hundreds of thousands of copies.
Of course, this is not an “insurance policy” for heaven, but an act of trust in divine mercy. It is not a guarantee, but a gift from God, and it depends on our free response. No one can be completely certain that they have fully satisfied the required conditions. But the nine first Fridays are a sign of trust and love; a way to open our hearts to God’s grace, to live in harmony with his will, and to prepare ourselves for our final encounter with him. These promises are an extraordinary opportunity to respond to God’s great love and an invitation to live a life of faith and prayer, in harmony with the divine will.
Begin this journey of love and faith today. Let yourself be won over by the Heart of Jesus and discover the joy of living in communion with him.
Share these wonderful promises with everyone you love!
