In our time, when efficiency, visibility, and competition often dominate, the example of Saint Maximilian Kolbe emerges as a powerful reminder to rediscover the depth of the human being and to live a concrete spirituality embodied in unconditional love. A Franciscan friar, scientist, and man of faith, Kolbe is a beacon for modern humanity, inviting us on a journey toward true joy and authentic humanity.
Spirituality rooted in reality
Kolbeβs spirituality was not made up of abstractions, but manifested itself in tangible gestures: welcome, listening, and sacrifice. This took concrete form in the founding of the βCity of the Immaculateβ (NiepokalanΓ³w) in Poland, a community based on mutual love and sharing. Despite his deep faith, he was not detached from reality, but deeply immersed in the suffering of the world, even unto martyrdom in the Auschwitz concentration camp. As a child, he received the prophecy of the two crowns: one white, symbolizing purity, and one red, symbolizing martyrdom, both willingly accepted from Maryβs hands.
