Fourth reflection of the First Week of Lent
In the first week of Lent, we allow ourselves to be challenged by the meditations of Father Bruno Tarantino. Insights that… cannot leave us indifferent:
PILATE
«Pilate, saying: “Ecce homo”, judges everyone else, and therefore himself as well, as masks, actors obedient to an occult and perverse direction. He and they, who believe themselves free and powerful, reveal themselves to be subservient, slaves to absolute evil.
Pilate reveals to us that part of ourselves that cannot surrender to authenticity.
Pilate asks us questions; he is a man of questions but, at the same time, a man of impatience, one who is unwilling to listen to the answers, who has no time:
What prevents me from being free?
What are my fears?
What labels have I stuck on myself?
What masks have I chosen to wear?
Why don’t I know how to take risks?
Whom do I listen to?
To what powers have I subjected my life?
Why can’t I listen to my inner turmoil?
How do I treat the angels that providence sends into my life?
And each of us could continue this list forever, because the sparks ignited by the Word of God are infinite.
Faced with these provocations, Pilate decides to wash his hands…».
And what masks have I chosen to wear to feel accepted by those around me?
I’ll be waiting for you tomorrow morning to continue reflecting together!
