Fifth reflection of the First Week of Lent
In the first week of Lent, we let ourselves be challenged by the meditations of Father Bruno Tarantino. Reflections that… cannot leave us indifferent:
«Judas, Simon Peter, and Pilate are historical figures, concrete faces of men, lives unfolding through the ups and downs of everyday life. But they are also something more.
Judas, Simon Peter, and Pilate are us, perhaps not always, but at least at certain moments in life.
They have something to tell us.
They encountered Jesus and could no longer pretend that nothing had happened.
The friend betrayed him: Judas.
The heir betrayed him: Peter.
The judge betrayed him: Pilate.
They betrayed, denied, and accused him, but they could not fail to recognize him. It is not enough to be traitors, unfaithful, or pagans to prevent Christ from reaching us in the depths of life, in the abysses of our decisions.
They lost themselves in his gaze, but that does not mean they were lost from his gaze.
An encounter with Jesus changes your life; it does not go unnoticed. It leaves an indelible mark, marks you forever, even when you decide not to follow him, not to listen to his Word, not to surrender to his friendship.»
How has my encounter with Jesus shaped my life?
I’ll see you on Monday morning to continue reflecting together!
