Anna Katharina Emmerick. Biblical visions and mystical contemplations

This is a new edition of the anthology published in 2009. This text gathers the “heart” and essence of the sixteen thousand pages written down and edited into their present form by the German Romantic poet Clemens Brentano (1778-1842), concerning the numerous biblical visions and mystical contemplations of the blessed ecstatic Anna Katharina Emmerick (1774-1824). The editor sought to select the most moving biblical episodes, narrated by Emmerick to Brentano while she was in ecstasy, giving them a certain historical continuity according to ecclesiastical tradition. The result is an interesting presentation of the exceptional divine gifts of one of the greatest ecstatic mystics of modern times, who experienced the biblical episodes by embodying them not only through visions but also through the sacred stigmata. Her powerful spiritual charisma remains to this day a source of faith, prayer, and meditation. 6th edition, with the graphic design updated for improved readability.
