Devils. Who they are and what they do

One of Italy’s leading experts on demonology, Renzo Lavatori, clarifies the truth about Satan, the angel of evil, according to biblical revelation and Church doctrine. The book seeks to bring clarity and order to a delicate and complex subject at a time of widespread confusion. Who is Satan? What does he do, and what power does he possess? What place does he occupy? These are some of the questions to which the author offers precise and rigorous answers by analyzing ancient and modern sources and providing readers with an overview of contemporary theologians’ positions. Studying Satan confirms a positive vision of humanity, at the center of which stands the saving work of Christ, the incarnate Word who died and rose again, showing how good prevails over evil, life over death, and the «mysterium amoris» over the «mysterium iniquitatis». Readers gain a broad and well-documented view of Satan’s nature and activity, from which they can draw points of interest and fruitful reflection.
