Philothea: Introduction to the Devout Life

To celebrate the 400th anniversary of Saint Francis de Sales’s birth into heaven, Shalom Publishing is releasing a deluxe edition of this classic of spirituality. What makes Philothea such a fascinating book that it has been translated and reprinted continuously? It is a book that speaks to people of every age and is an invitation to complete joy! In this “revolutionary” volume, Saint Francis de Sales helps each of us place God at the heart of everything we desire, think, do, love, and hope for. In these pages, he gathers a true “treasure chest” of secrets to guide each of us toward genuine conversion of heart. He leads us along the path of holiness - that is, true happiness - to which we are all called, and helps us understand that the way he traces is a “practical” path, to be followed in our daily lives, amid the simplicity of everyday life. You hold in your hands a true “treasure” of Catholic spirituality, and you will discover its striking relevance today: these pages are written for you, whatever your circumstances or vocation. Savor the joy that comes from living united with God and in his friendship.
