Fratelli tutti. Encyclical letter on fraternity and social friendship

Pope Francis, in his new encyclical “Fratelli tutti,” speaks to the heart of every person through his simple, clear, and direct language. In the document, he gathers and develops the great themes of fraternal love and social friendship, which he has addressed repeatedly throughout his pontificate. The Pope offers an insightful perspective on the issues that characterize our times, suggesting concrete rays of light to tear down walls, foster mutual understanding, dialogue, and fraternal cooperation, restore awareness of the unity of the human race, and build a future of peace. To overcome the challenges facing humanity (the pandemic, wars, migration, poverty, economic crises, and climate change), there is only one way: to recognize that we are all brothers and sisters under the gaze of the one Father. The Holy Father’s hope is that “we can revive in everyone a worldwide aspiration to fraternity. Let us dream, then, as a single human family, as fellow travelers made of the same human flesh, as children of this same earth which is home to us all.” An encyclical to read and meditate on.
