The Kite Runner

They say time heals all wounds. But for Amir, the past is a beast with long claws, ready to catch up with him when he least expects it. Many years have passed since the day his friend Hassan's life changed forever in an alley in Kabul. That day, Amir committed a terrible wrong. So when an unexpected phone call reaches him at his home in San Francisco, he realizes he has no choice: he must return home to find Hassan's son and settle the score with his own unatoned mistakes. But waiting for him in Kabul are not only the ghosts of his conscience. There is a shocking discovery, in a violent and sinister world where women are invisible, beauty is outlawed, and kites no longer fly. Author: Khaled Hosseini
