The Appeal of the Parables

We think we know the parables and their meaning perfectly; all of us have listened to them at Mass since childhood, read them in books, and understood their meaning during homilies... Reading this book, you will be surprised to discover that there are actually many things about the parables that you still do not know: Why does the man sell all his possessions without knowing how much the treasure is worth? Why does the good shepherd abandon ninety-nine sheep just to save one? How much is a talent worth? Why do the vineyard workers all receive the same pay if some of them worked many more hours? Why does the master praise the dishonest steward? Don Renzo Lavatori and Don Luciano Sole, experts in theology, examine all the parables told by Jesus that appear in the Gospels and guide you, in simple words and an accessible style, toward understanding their deepest meaning and the wealth of insights and reflections that arise from them. You will reread the parables with new eyes and feel encouraged and challenged to ask yourself vital questions, whose illuminating answers can be found in these brief stories of Jesus. The Chioggia diocesan weekly «Nuova Scintilla» presented the book and dedicated an article to the volume.
