The Gospel of Mark. A guide to reading

Monsignor Nazzareno Marconi, a biblical scholar and pastor, uses deliberately simple language to offer a resource for reading the Gospel according to Mark. To make readers even more attentive to the Word, he provides a translation that differs from the one read in church every Sunday. This translation, very close to the Greek text, seeks to restore the original vividness of Mark’s text while preserving its conversational, familiar, spoken tone, as his contemporaries heard it, bringing to light a Gospel that speaks to everyone. In the same way, the explanations that follow the Gospel text help guide reading and reflection correctly. Although they certainly do not exhaust the message of the Gospel, they always place what matters most at the center: knowing, loving, and bearing witness to Christ. The result is an unusual “Mark,” very close to the Greek text and rich in valuable insights.
