A handy book for living intensely the pious practice of the Forty Hours and Eucharistic adoration. After a brief historical overview of the origins of the Forty Hours, it presents five Eucharistic reflection outlines centered on chapter six of the Gospel of John, which speaks of the “Passover of the bread of life,” as commented on by Saint Augustine. Just as the Gospel of John is addressed to all Christians and all Christian communities, so Augustine’s commentary seeks to inspire the conviction that the Eucharist is the sacrament of unity, charity, and love. The book includes the most beautiful hymns dedicated to the Eucharist, which have moved and continue to move all the faithful. Jesus awaits us in this Sacrament of love.
