Consecrated life

by Veronica Berzosa Council Notebooks The gift of consecrated life is the call to live more closely and to make present “the form of life that the Son of God assumed upon entering the world” (LG 44). Consecrated life is a falling in love with the humanity of Christ, poor, obedient, and virginal. Far from being a renunciation, it is embraced as an incomparable gift, since it is a testimony of total belonging, self-giving, and obedience to God’s plan. Those who give themselves to God are certain that no joy compares with the happiness of making Christ’s light shine. Consecrated life, on the one hand, has the mission of making Christ present in such a way that everyone can experience his love in a disenchanted world; on the other, it seeks to offer a particular witness to young people who today live indifferent, absent, and immersed in the virtual world.
