The life of Blessed Beatrice de Silva

The Life of Blessed Beatrice de Silva (1424-1492), written by the Venerable Francesco Antonio Marcucci (1717-1798), is the latest volume published as part of the Opera Omnia Marcucciana, under the patronage of the Pontifical International Marian Academy. It is the first biography published in Italy of the saint who founded the Conceptionists in Toledo. The editor, Sister Maria Paola Giobbi, presents readers with an extremely precise and meticulous work. During the writing of the book, Bishop Marcucci fell in love with this figure and chose her as the inspiration for his new Congregation of the Pious Worker Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of Ascoli Piceno, which he founded on December 8, 1744. Saint Beatrice continues to speak to the hearts of her spiritual daughters, who, on the 275th anniversary of the foundation, wish to reread her life in order to imitate her virtues more closely and, together with the Conceptionists of Toledo, rekindle that spiritual friendship begun by Marcucci and never extinguished over the centuries.
