My Confessions

We are faced with an extraordinary and ever-relevant text: indeed, the content of Saint Augustine’s book «My Confessions» is astonishingly modern: it tells the story of the «pilgrimage» of a restless soul, very close, in its turmoil and ardor, to that of many young people today. «My Confessions» is a kind of autobiography in the form of a dialogue with God. In fact, in 13 books Saint Augustine movingly portrays himself and his life. Beginning with childhood and the turbulent years of his youth, he goes on to describe maturity and the long inner struggle marked by second thoughts, wavering, and hesitation, finally arriving at his definitive conversion to Christianity and his choice of religious life. Thanks to the «Confessions», every reader can follow, step by step, the inner journey of this extraordinary man, passionate about God, reflect on their own life, and seek within it the traces of God’s presence.
