Inspired by the popularity of the program "Recipes from the Convent," broadcast on Food Network (Channel 33) with the three monks of the Benedictine Abbey of San Martino delle Scale - Father Anselmo, narrator and kitchen assistant; Father Salvatore, an excellent cook; and Father Riccardo, a golden-voiced singer and official taster - the idea arose to collect some of their recipes in this book, which celebrates the rich monastic cuisine and, in particular, Sicilian cuisine.
