Guidelines for the Ministry of Exorcism

A handbook on exorcistic doctrine and practice in light of the new Rite of Exorcisms. A handbook offering a general overview of exorcism and demonic activity throughout our history, to enable an effective and proper ministry in the Church, for the Church, and for the many brothers and sisters experiencing great suffering. It is the result of the listening, experience, and work of many members of the International Association of Exorcists. These guidelines are given authority by the decisive contribution of the Congregation for the Clergy, which examined and revised them with the assistance of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. It does not replace any official instrument approved by the Church, but stands alongside what Tradition has taught in order to improve the “service to those who are sick and disturbed by the Evil One” whom exorcists encounter every day.
