Thanks to its size, it is convenient to carry with you at all times, for example in a wallet or coin purse. The medal is finely finished, and all the details are clearly visible and finely rendered. The medal is made in Italy by a family-run company that is a leading manufacturer of metal medals and religious objects. According to Catholic tradition, Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared in 1531 to Juan Diego, an Indigenous Mexican man, on Tepeyac Hill near Mexico City. Our Lady asked Juan Diego to build a shrine in her honor at the site of the apparition. Her miraculous image, imprinted on Juan Diego's tilma, is venerated as a sign of Our Lady of Guadalupe's presence and protection. Her feast day is celebrated on December 12.
