The booklet Novena to Saint Rose of Viterbo offers a nine-day prayer journey to draw closer to the figure and message of hope of the "Saint of the young". Prepared by the Monastery of Saint Rose and enriched with ecclesiastical approval, this publication combines biblical reflection, Franciscan spirituality, and personal devotion in a handy, pocket-sized format.
The figure of Saint Rose of Viterbo continues to speak to the hearts of the faithful and younger generations through the consistency of her charism and her profound connection with Franciscan spirituality. In a social and existential context often marked by uncertainty, this booklet presents itself not merely as a devotional compendium, but as a genuine spiritual journey for transforming prayer into concrete action and daily witness.
The work invites readers to live out their devotion through a method comprising five fundamental steps: read, listen, meditate, pray, and live. A journey capable of revitalizing hope and renewing personal trust in the light of the Gospel.
The novena is divided into nine daily appointments, each focused on a different aspect of Rose's life. The texts draw directly on historical documents preserved in the Monastery's Archive - from the thirteenth-century parchment to the records of the fifteenth-century canonization process - and connect them with the Word of God. Each day also incorporates the example of Saint Francis and Saint Clare of Assisi, whose evangelical experience left an indelible mark on the life and penitential choice of the young girl from Viterbo.
The texts were prepared directly by the religious sisters of the Monastery of Saint Rose of Viterbo, ensuring doctrinal consistency and deep adherence to the spiritual tradition of the place of worship where the incorrupt body of the Saint rests. The work opens with a preface by Monsignor Orazio Francesco Piazza, Bishop of Viterbo, and bears ecclesiastical approval (Imprimatur).
The publication is designed to meet the spiritual needs of a variety of readers:
Lay faithful and young people: to accompany moments of personal reflection, tridua, or novenas in preparation for the Saint's feast days.
Priests, religious, and pastoral workers: ideal as a prayer aid for youth groups, parishes, and devotional communities.
Religious bookstores and sacred-goods shops: a small volume that is easy to consult and carefully designed, suitable for distribution during pilgrimages to the Sanctuary and feast celebrations
