Let us pray with the Litanies

Litany prayers are an ancient form of prayer that helps the faithful along the path to holiness. Today, their use is so widespread that not only does every major devotion have its own litanies, but the forms approved by the Church are continually being renewed and multiplied. Although the formulas vary according to the type of devotion, they all share the same purpose: to direct the praise or supplication of the faithful, either directly or through the intercession of the saints and the Virgin Mary, to God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Their simplicity, immediacy, and widespread use make them an irreplaceably effective tool both for personal and communal prayer. Litanies also contain, in brief formulas, a compendium of Christian spirituality, becoming prayer and catechism, devotion and teaching at the same time. This volume offers a collection of litanies addressed to the Trinity, the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, the Holy Family, the angels, the saints, and Christian life in general. It combines forms of very ancient origin with more recently composed texts, making it an easy-to-use resource that offers prayer guides for every occasion.
