Saint Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows. A boy all fire

Father Tito Paolo Zecca, a profound scholar of Saint Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows, recounts the life of the Saint of the smile from a historical perspective, in a well-documented and richly detailed account, portraying his face and soul as faithfully as possible. Saint Gabriel is presented in all his freshness and depth; Gabriel is the young man who, during the era of the Risorgimento upheavals, followed the path of holiness by immersing himself in the spirituality of the Passion of the Lord. His very brief life was marked by a lively adolescence, rich in friendship, poetic talent, parties, and dances. He was a brilliant young man; his company was sought after, and his presence never went unnoticed. This “beautiful” life was not without sorrows that prompted him to reflect. His sensitive soul, in which the desire to give himself completely to God had often arisen, finally surrendered on August 22, 1856, during a procession... Thus, at the age of 18, his second life began. This book devotes ample space to both his first and second lives.
