The painted fiberglass statue of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception embodies Marian purity with iconographic refinement and skilled Italian craftsmanship. Embellished with glass eyes and hand-finished with oil paints, combines a solid yet lightweight structure ideal for processional celebrations with an aesthetic suitable for chapels, naves, and protected votive shrines.
This sculpture celebrates the solemnity of Mary Immaculate according to the established Catholic iconographic tradition associated with victory over sin and virginal purity. The Virgin is depicted standing on a white cloud as She crushes with Her foot the serpent holding the apple between its jaws, an explicit reference to the Protoevangelium (Gen 3:15) and the triumph of divine grace over evil.
Her arms extended downward with open palms express Her maternal intercession and the outpouring of graces upon praying humanity. The garments - consisting of a white tunic cinched with a golden sash and a cerulean blue mantle trimmed in gold - feature sculpted drapery that lends the entire figure composure and liturgical decorum.
Every detail of the sculpture is treated with meticulous attention by expert Italian artisans:
Set-in glass eyes: The glass eyes give the gaze depth and a vivid luminosity, making the facial expression particularly gentle, contemplative, and conducive to personal and communal prayer.
Oil-paint finish: The complexion of the face, the waves of the hair, and the highlights and shadows of the drapery are hand-painted with oil pigments, ensuring harmonious nuances and understated realism in keeping with the principles of classical sacred art.
Made entirely in Italy, the sculpture harnesses the excellent structural properties of fiberglass to offer strength and ease of use.
The combination of mechanical rigidity and low weight is one of the primary advantages of this material:
It allows easy and safe handling during parish celebrations and Marian observances on December 8 or in May.
It is particularly suitable for shoulder transport on platforms and processional biers, relieving bearers of the excessive load typical of plaster or solid-wood statues.
The fiberglass structure is naturally inert: it is unaffected by frost, humidity, or temperature fluctuations. However, to ensure the long-term durability of the hand-applied pigments, the type of placement should be taken into account:
Oil-painted version: To preserve the brilliance of the polychrome finish and prevent fading caused by direct sunlight and continuous rain, this painted version is intended for indoor environments (churches, sanctuaries, liturgical halls) or sheltered outdoor spaces, such as covered Marian grottoes, glass-enclosed niches, atriums, and porticos.
White fiberglass version: If a completely exposed outdoor placement without shelter is required (gardens, parish avenues, courtyards), the unpainted white variant is available on request; it remains unchanged under continuous exposure to sunlight and the elements.
The sculpture rests on a shaped, stable base measuring 8 cm in height, 45 cm in width, and 33 cm in depth.
To safeguard the statue's artistic and structural integrity, preparation for delivery follows specific safety standards:
Soft, scratch-resistant film lining in contact with the surface to protect oil-painted finishes;
Protective shells and shaped inserts in polystyrene and cushioning expanded foam;
Shock-resistant outer box made of double-wall rigid cardboard for shipping protected against impacts and vibrations.
