The 170 cm wooden statue of Saint Carlo Acutis, made of linden wood and hand-carved and hand-painted in oils by a historic Italian workshop, combines the excellence of sacred art with the living evangelical witness of our time. Modeled under the direct supervision of his mother, Antonia Salzano, it is a monumental work of profound inspiration for parishes, youth centers, and shrines.
Saint Carlo Acutis embodies evangelical youth lived to the fullest in the digital age, an tireless witness to how holiness is an attainable goal in everyday life. This majestic 170 cm life-size statue portrays him with the freshness and spontaneity that have made him dear to the faithful throughout the world: modern clothing, a serene posture with his left hand in his pocket, and an open gaze filled with Christian joy.
On his chest, the red polo shirt bears the Eucharistic monogram «JHS» surrounded by golden rays, an evident reference to the central phrase of his spirituality: «The Eucharist is my highway to heaven». In his right hand, the young man holds the electronic device with which he placed new technologies at the service of proclaiming the Gospel, creating the famous international exhibition on Eucharistic miracles. The figure stands on a solid geometric base, ideal for a place of honor in sacred buildings.
The distinctive feature and priceless historical and spiritual value of this work lie in the process of its modeling. The sculpture was created under the careful supervision of Carlo's mother, Mrs. Antonia Salzano, who guided the artisans using archival photographs and original family footage. This close collaboration made it possible to reproduce with remarkable accuracy the features of his face, the tilt of his smile, the shape of his dark curls, and the young saint's authentic posture, presenting the Church with a sculptural portrait of extraordinary truthfulness.
The work is the result of the highest level of Italian sculptural craftsmanship, commissioned by Editrice Shalom from a renowned artistic workshop that has specialized for over 140 years in statuary furnishings for monumental complexes, cathedrals, and shrines.
The expertise passed down through five generations ensures impeccable care at every stage of the carving process. The choice of linden wood follows the noblest tradition of sacred sculpture: thanks to its compact, soft, and regular grain, this precious wood is ideal for meticulous carving and ensures centuries-long durability, giving each individual piece the unique, unrepeatable character of an artist's work.
The color finish is applied entirely by hand using oil pigments. This traditional process allows the color to blend with the grain of the linden wood, recreating the natural appearance of skin tones, the softness of fabric folds, and warm shades destined to retain their brilliance for decades.
Because of its life-size dimensions (170 cm), the statue is designed for:
Parish naves and chapels: as a focal point for communal prayer and Eucharistic adoration.
Youth centers, Catholic schools, and youth ministry centers: offering young people a visual model close to their sensibilities and language.
Shrines, seminaries, and dioceses: for the dedication of altars, chaplaincies, or devotional paths dedicated to the new witnesses of the faith.
